Editor's Greeting
Celebrating the lifestyle and the game!
Welcome to the Summer/Fall 2008 edition of Rocky Mountain Golf Magazine, a lifestyle publication for the ever-expanding world of golf in the Colorado Rockies and beyond.
We begin this issue with a hole-by-hole tour of the new Cornerstone Golf Club’s golf course, designed by golf legend Greg Norman. Located on the rolling ranchlands and wide-open meadows between Telluride and Montrose, Colorado, Cornerstone is an inviting year-round resort community specializing in what they call Pioneer Hospitably. So impressed was Norman, he chose Cornerstone as his latest venture into Colorado. Read more about Cornerstone in associate editor Kim McHugh’s “Shark-Bitten.”
We then head for Colorado’s Front Range, in the Rockies rolling foothills just west of Denver to visit the Golf Club at Ravenna. Travel+Leisure rated Ravenna’s stunningly picturesque Jay Moorish-designed course one of the Top 10 Best New Courses of 2007, and the quality of the community’s design, amenities and service certainly live up to the high standards of the course. Ravenna offers a true Rocky Mountain lifestyle within close proximity to all the amenities of the city, as we learn in Tom Boyd’s “Best of Both Worlds.”
Leaving Colorado, we fly off to the Big Island of Hawaii. Amid towering mountains, legendary volcanoes, lush vegetation and the azure blue waters of the Pacific, we take a fascinating tour of many of the island’s top golf courses (the island boasts 22) and resorts. Join us for an exotic get-a-away, a trip to remember in Kim McHugh’s “Big Fun.”
Of course playing any of these Rocky Mountain or Hawaiian courses would be enhanced with some great tutoring beforehand. In “Class Act,” we visit some of the Rocky Mountain region’s top golf academies where we learn techniques that will help make any golfer play like a pro.
Throughout our journeys, we learn the latest developments at many of the region’s courses, get invaluable fairway tips, discover hot new products designed to help your game, and even visit some indigenous wildlife roaming the fairways.
We also provide an information-packed directory of Colorado Rocky Mountain courses that provides a bevy of useful information to help you select the courses just right for you.
We at Rocky Mountain Golf Magazine hope you enjoy the Summer/Fall 2008 edition of this publication. As always, we welcome the comments and suggestions of our readers. After all, this is your magazine.
Sincerely,

Don Berger
