Tee Up at Swingers Golf Lounge
Playing at Pebble Beach, I'm the envy of my golf buddies. With the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop, it is one of the most dramatic courses in golf. I wrap up my round, carding a, gulp, 108! Fortunately, since I'm playing a simulated round, I can save this one (or delete it) and tee up again to see if I can improve my score. Created by aboutGolf, the simulator at Swingers Golf Lounge near Park Meadows Mall, portrays a very realistic representation of Pebble Beach.
More than 50 Notable Courses.
Though I chose to play Pebble Beach, I had the opportunity to play three layouts in The Carolinas, including Harbour Town, Pine Needles Golf Club and The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. There are three courses in the St. Andrews Collection, a number of Specialty Courses, including the Myrtle Beach Tour and The Par 3 Showcase, and courses such as Teeth of the Dog and Donald Ross Memorial.
The PGA TOUR's 3Trak Tracking System.
The sim at Swingers features PGA TOUR software that has the impressive 3Trak ball-tracking technology, allowing "players" to watch the flight of their ball from contact to landing. An agreement between aboutGolf, the world leader in indoor golf simulator technology, and the PGA TOUR, established an exclusive, worldwide licensing partnership to manufacture PGA TOUR simulators as well as an exclusive, worldwide licensing partnership to offer TPC courses.
"We're the only company offering this type of innovative system," said Chuck Faust, aboutGolf's President and Chief Operating Officer. "It features all the technology golfers have come to expect from aboutGolf."
Improve Your Swing.
In addition to showing ball flight, distance, distance off line and scores, the sophisticated aboutGolf software indicates club head speed, ball speed and backspin. Plus the computer stores club data, so golfers can work towards improving their swing dynamic...and scoring.
"Say you want to figure out the distances and trajectory of your iron shots," said Cameron Nuss, a partner at Swingers with Cody Benjamin. "You can hit, say, 25 shots with a 7-iron, then 25 shots with a 6-iron, and so on. You can go through your whole bag from lob wedge to driver, then check to see what your averages are and the computer will save those for you."
Bring Your Clubs or Rent TaylorMade Sets.
Patrons can bring their own clubs or rent the eatery's TaylorMade clubs for $10; groups can share. Swingers has men's right and left handed sets, and a set of women's right handed clubs in various flexes. You're welcome to wear golf shoes, but people also play in sneakers, street shoes, Crocs and even flip flops.
Great for Fa
ll and Winter.
Now that Colorado's golf season is in hibernation, Swingers is a great way to stay on your game or have fun with golf buddies. Nuss commented that the two aboutGolf simulators at Swingers have been reserved for birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and other special events. The cost to play or practice is $30 an hour and the fee can be paid by an individual or shared among pairs, foursomes or groups. The sims can be reserved for lessons, too. It costs $35 for a 30-minute lesson or $65 for a 60-minute lesson. Lessons are available by appointment only and may be set up Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. To schedule an appointment call 303-799-0099.
Reserving Tee Times Online.
With winter upon us, the two sims are booked more frequently than in summer.Tee times are spaced an hour and 10 minutes apart, with the first hour for actual play and the last 10 minutes for setting up the next golfer or group. To complete 18 holes takes around 45 - 60 minutes per player, so plan accordingly. Players can book online two weeks in advance.
