Holiday gifts—Let it glow!
If you’re looking to light up more than the Christmas tree this holiday, give the gift of illuminated golf apparel. Headquartered in Sonoma, California, Loudmouth Golf was founded by Scott Woodworth, who isn’t shy about trumpeting the virtues of his zany slacks on YouTube.
“You can tell a lot about a person when they react to the pants,” said Woodworth, who helms the company with CEO Larry Jackson. “Some guys look straight down with tight lips as they walk by, then mutter something to their partner. You probably wouldn't want to hang out with guys like that. Then there's the instant smile and recognition reaction, where all of a sudden there's a small crowd around you and an instant party breaks out.”
John Daly and Alice Cooper are fans.
During the PGA Tour season you may have seen John Daly sporting Loudmouth Golf pants, but he wasn’t the first “celeb” to don a pair. That honor goes to ESPN-chronicled former Chicago Bear Super Bowl winning QB Jim McMahon.
“We got involved with Jim first through a Loudmouth customer, and Jim's a good friend of John’s, and their girlfriends are friends,” explained Woodworth. “The guys played a charity tournament together and John liked Jim's Disco Ball pants. They set up a meeting and away we went.”
Rocker Alice Cooper also digs the pants.
Shagadelic, Cherry Bomb and Margarita, oh my.
Inspired largely by the 70’s, Loudmouth’s line is wildly colorful and features patterns with big, bold stripes, harlequin checkers, stars and stripes, plaids, zebra and tiger stripes, and Cheech and Chong psychedelics. So what fuels Woodworth’s design ideas?
“I look at magazines, study women's clothing in public (they often think I'm checking them out, flattering themselves, but I'm just digging the pattern on their blouses), see things on TV,” Woodworth commented. “My eye is constantly on the lookout for interesting patterns or colors.”
The Disco Balls, one of the company’s most popular designs came from a shower and its latest solid color "Peacock" is the color of actor Jack Black's habit at the end of Nacho Libre.

While the more conservative golfer wouldn’t be caught dead wearing Loudmouth apparel in public (translation: boring people), Woodworth’s threads continue to find enthusiasts on the course and off.
“They're great for sporting events like college football, polo, horse racing, parties of any kind,” added the founder. “Two guys actually got married in Loudmouth pants. They must have GREAT wives!”
Woodworth has professional bowlers wearing Loudmouth and knows they look great on stage for guys in rock bands. In addition to more than 30 eye-catching pants patterns, the company offers golf shirts, shorts, hats and sport coats. Plus Loudmouth has a variety of shorts and skorts for women as well as ties for guys.
