Girls Weekend in Steamboat Springs, CO
Just returned from a Steamboat trip and the autumn golds and reds were breathtaking! Enjoyed the challenges laid out by Robert Trent Jones at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club and the healthy fairways & greens. Too bad the rough was so hearty..... The course winds through the mountain offering sweeping vistas of the valley, complete with trains, fresh cut hay baled in the meadow, mountains, the flattops, elegant homes and beathtaking golden trees. The lake on par 3 number 8 not only inspired me to keep my drive to the left side of the green, but the refection of the huge stand of aspens all turning yellow and orange held our eyes competely. Like sentinels guarding the water, these trees made a wall of moving color with just a whisper of wind. Rollingstone Ranch was pretty friendly but had plenty of challenge. Playing with friends, who aren't die hard golfers, in the Colorado clouds and sometimes rain, was fun for me and them. It's a hopeful course and there are pars to be had without some of the gimmicks and hidden uphill greens that some mountain courses have. Mountain putting is a challenge for me, but my mountain loving daughter had no such trouble. Sand traps made the green entrances challenging and hitting long instead of short helped. Get out there and have some fun before the snow sets in - worth the trip!

Sounds like a fun trip...
Steamboat is awesome. Way better than Aspen or Vail.
Margy...Where's the next trip?
