The Hole View 08/16/10Golf Day Assists Veterans + Families.
A few issues back I wrote about Joey Bozik, a former U.S. Army sergeant who was severely wounded when the HumVee he was riding in south of Baghdad hit an antitank mine. The blast left him a triple amputee. With the Labor Day weekend approaching, golfers can help veterans like Bozik by teeing up during the fourth annual Patriot Golf Day. Tee it up Sept. 3 – 6.Posted at 05:33 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

07/02/102011 U.S. Women's Open Tix On Sale
I know it is hard enough planning a month or two down the road but I'm asking you to think about a golf tourney about a year away—the 66th U.S. Women’s Open, which will be held July 4-10, 2011. Tickets for the tourney, which will bring a field of 156 of the world’s best professional and amateur female golfers to The Broadmoor East Course, actually went on sale last month! “There is a tradition of extraordinary U.S. Women’s Open Championships in Colorado, from the high level of competition, to the memorable finishes, to the enormous galleries,” said Russ Miller, director of golf at The Broadmoor. “We expect to welcome and entertain the most spectators... 06/30/10Swing By Swing Phone App
If you have an iPhone or Blackberry, Swing by Swing Golf's range finder deserves consideration as one of your apps. With golf GPS devices ranging from $225 to $450 (or the economical IZZO Swami for $80), this app—free for basic functionality—gives golfers a practical tool for easily navigating courses. "Our app was designed with only one concept in mind; usability," said Travis Giggy, co-founder of the Fort Collins, Colorado-based company. "We do not want to slow down the game, we do not want to take away from the game. In a matter of three clicks with SbS, you can accomplish what takes 10 plus clicks in some other programs." Quick and Accurate

06/29/10Santa Fe is cookin’.
You know an eatery is good when the parking lot is jammed—the case when we drive up to El Parasol. It came recommended by Pat Brockwell, superintendent at Black Mesa, a gorgeous New Mexico golf course in Espanola, where my wife, Jane, our golf buddy, and I played that morning. |

06/13/10Fun in the Sun(ice)
Anyone teeing up at altitude (5,280 and above) knows that Mother Nature is quite capable of introducing unpredictable weather from the first tee to the eighteenth—from early morning frost, to rain and sleet, to wind and snow showers, and eventually sunshine. Thankfully, the designers and product developers from Sunice appreciate the climate nuances enough to create outerwear that is ideally suited for weather quirks from New Mexico golf courses to Montana golf courses. 06/02/10Native American dances, ancient ruins enrich Santa Fe golf vacation.
Watching a Corn Dance at the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo near Santa Fe gives me a better understanding of why the state of New Mexico has “Land of Enchantment” on its license plates. In a gathering of more than 200 tribal members, the Corn Dance is performed as a blessing of the fields and is one The ritual... Posted at 12:36 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

05/28/10PGA Learning Center is Really Swinging This Weekend
I returned Friday afternoon to the 71st Senior PGA Championship in Parker and it appears there are a LOT of golf enthusiasts that are happy to see a major tournament return to Colorado. The galleries were pretty large, especially those following Tom Kite, Fred Couples, Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Lehman and Bernhard Langer. If you're looking for a great way to spend at least part of your Memorial Day weekend head out to Colorado Golf Club. Free 10-Minute Lesson: PGA Learning Center

05/26/10Golf Shop Goodies: 71st Senior PGA Championship
I spent the afternoon at Colorado Golf Club, site of the 71st Senior PGA Championship, and part of my wanderings led me to the PGA Merchandise Shop. As with most tourneys of this caliber, guests are invited to purchase any number of items with the Senior PGA Championship logo on them. Appreciating that Colorado won't see another high-level tournament until the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open Championship comes to The Broadmoor, this is an opportune time to get some cool memorabilia. 05/23/10Field of Dreams
Next Thursday, May 27, Michael Allen will defend his title as the 71st Senior PGA Championship gets underway at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colorado. He faces a field of nearly 160 players, one that features 22 major champions, winners of 17 senior majors, 10 Ryder Cup Captains and eight members of the Golf Hall of Fame. Tom Watson and Bernhard Langer, the only players other than Couples to win on the Champions Tour this year, have also committed to the Senior PGA Championship. Fred Couples Among Great Field
